Hi cutie!! If you’ve been around me for more than five minutes you’ve probably heard me talk about light therapy. I can’t help it. I’m obsessed and I have receipts to back it up.
I worked at the very first Beem Light Sauna location in Huntersville, NC and was named General Manager of the Year in 2024. So when I tell you I’ve seen what light therapy can do for people, I’m not just regurgitating something I read on TikTok. I watched hundreds of people walk in skeptical and walk out converted. I was one of them.
The thing most people don’t realize is that light therapy isn’t one thing. There are different types and they each do something different. So whether you’re dealing with skin issues, chronic pain, bad sleep, anxiety, or you just want to feel better in general, there’s a version of this that could work for you.
Let me break it down.
Infrared Light Therapy (My Personal Favorite)
This is the one that changed everything for me. Infrared light penetrates deep into your body, way past the surface of your skin. We’re talking muscles, joints, even your cells. It increases circulation, helps your body recover faster, and the relaxation is unreal. I’m not exaggerating when I say an infrared sauna session is the most relaxed I ever feel.
If you deal with muscle soreness, joint pain, inflammation, or you just carry stress in your body (so literally everyone), infrared is for you. It also supports detoxification through sweat and can help with cardiovascular health. I try to get a session in as often as I can and my body always thanks me for it.
Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy is the one you’ve probably seen all over social media and for once the hype is actually justified. It works on the surface level, targeting your skin cells to boost collagen production, reduce fine lines, fade acne scars, and just make your skin look alive again.
But it’s not just a vanity thing. Red light therapy also helps with wound healing, reduces inflammation, and can help with joint pain. A lot of people use it for muscle recovery after workouts too. I use my Mito Red Light device at home and it’s one of the best investments I’ve made. If you’re dealing with dull skin, acne, or signs of aging, red light is where to start.
Blue Light Therapy
Blue light therapy is the unsung hero for anyone dealing with acne. It targets the bacteria that causes breakouts without harsh chemicals or drying out your skin. If you’ve tried every cleanser and spot treatment and nothing is working, blue light might be the missing piece.
It’s also been used for mood support, especially for seasonal depression. If you’re someone who feels off during the winter months or lives somewhere that doesn’t get a lot of sun, blue light therapy can help regulate your mood and energy levels.
Green Light Therapy
This one surprises people. Green light therapy is being studied for its ability to help with migraines and chronic pain. If you deal with headaches regularly, this could be a game changer. It’s also been shown to help with hyperpigmentation and dark spots on the skin.
Green light works by calming the nervous system and reducing pain signaling. It’s the gentlest of all the light therapies and honestly the most underrated. I wish more people knew about it.
Why Everyone Should Try Some Form of Light Therapy
Here’s what I always told people at Beem. You don’t have to be dealing with a specific problem to benefit from light therapy. It’s not just for people with injuries or skin issues. It’s for anyone who wants to feel better in their body.
Better sleep. Less stress. More energy. Clearer skin. Faster recovery. Less pain. These aren’t miracle claims, they’re what happens when you give your body the right tools to do what it already knows how to do.
I’ve seen it work for college athletes and I’ve seen it work for grandmothers. I’ve seen it help people with chronic conditions and I’ve seen it help people who just wanted to relax after a long week. There really is something for everyone.
If you’re curious about getting started at home, I use and recommend the Mito Red Light MitoMIN which is linked on my My Picks page. It’s affordable, effective, and you can use it from your couch. That’s my kind of wellness.
If you have any questions about light therapy I could literally talk about this all day. Shoot me a message on Instagram @the_dailyrestock or my personal page at @merrrmaiddd and let’s chat my friend.
